What is Unresponsive?

A person who is unresponsive might look like they are sleeping, but they are not. They do not talk, move, and may not be breathing. Their heart may not be beating.

What causes someone to be unresponsive?

• Medical problems - The heart, brain, or lungs may have a disease. Someone may be sick with a bad infection

• Accidents - Anything that injures the major organs (heart, brain, lungs) may cause someone to be unresponsive. Some examples include car accidents, drowning, lightening strikes, falls.
